Site plan in Brussels
The urban.brussels GIS prints both the liggingsplan and the inplantingsplan. An architect is mandatory unless the work is exempt — and a formal "without architect" procedure exists for minor works.
Can you draw it yourself in Brussels? #
Only for exempt or minor works. An architect is mandatory unless the work is exempt. The region does operate an official without architect procedure for minor works, and publishes guidance and example plans for it — see the Homegrade infosheets and stedenbouw.irisnet.be.
If your project needs an architect, engage one. If it qualifies as exempt, you may prepare the plans yourself.
What Brussels requires #
Two drawings:
- Liggingsplan — the location plan, showing the property in its surroundings.
- Inplantingsplan — the site plan, showing the works on the plot with scale, north arrow and distances to plot boundaries.
Both are printable directly from the official regional base map, the urban.brussels GIS at gis.urban.brussels.

What you can still draw yourself #
Exempt works under the without-architect procedure, sketches to brief your architect, and drawings for your own planning before commissioning work.
Drawblueprint.com — draw simple building documents yourself #
Drawblueprint is for the drawings you are allowed to make yourself: import the base map you printed from the urban.brussels GIS and draw at the correct scale, with a proper title block and dimensioned distances to boundaries. It does not replace the architect required for non-exempt works.
Many use Drawblueprint to for planning where to lay pipes on their property, for facade drawings, for communication with contractors, and other drawings that are useful in different stages of a project.
